- Feleman Limited talks about decentralized governance and its ability to achieve a transformed economy in Africa and other parts of the world.
Akin Sawyerr, founder and CEO of Feleman Limited, an Africa-based business consulting firm in the US, said in an interview at the Digital Money Forum that decentralized finance and governance can transform economies across the world. With a geographical purview of the entire continent, a lot of Akin’s work is dedicated to identifying opportunities for the benefit of Africa.
Akin believes that one of the root challenges in the continent is the weak governance which ultimately leads to a poor economy with greater transaction costs and expensive business deals which fail to attract investors. At the forum held at CES 2020 in Las Vegas, Akin stated that “cryptocurrencies and crypto networks will have a lot of applications across Africa”.
Referring to Decred, a company striving for innovative blockchain governance with decentralized decision-making and self funding, he stated that people are already appreciating its governance methods. Akin plans to expand these tools to the US. However, instead of simply selling solutions to the US, he expects under-served places like Africa to be early adopters and exploiters of blockchain-based governance solutions.
