A pre-solicitation notice for cryptocurrency investigation services has been issued by the US Army Contracting Command (ACC) of New Jersey.
As per the ACC, the crypto analytics solution pursued is to be used by the US Army Criminal Investigation Command (USACIDC) primarily in criminal investigations.
The technology will help ACC track down actors involved in illicit activities such as fraud, extortion, and money laundering. It has put up a pre-solicitation on July 25, and the notice states that the contractor will provide a cloud-based, online service, independent of hardware or software, to help in the aforementioned tasks.
The contract will also include identification of the source of the cryptocurrency transactions, with the capability to offer multi-crypto analysis from Bitcoin to other major cryptocurrencies.
Other requirements include “real-time Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency transaction tracing”, as well as service attribution, identification, and identification of transaction patterns and interactions.
A Diar report in fall 2018 had revealed that the US government, as well as US Army, had tripled their investment in blockchain intelligence firms, with the major chunk contracted to New York-based blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis, which reportedly had signed deals amounting to USD 5.3 million.
