Telegram Open Network (TON), the next groundbreaking project in the blockchain world powered by Telegram, is in its last preparation stage before it goes live.
The blockchain node code was employed on the test network portal on Friday, and now the next step would be the launch of a full node, a validator node, and the blockchain explorer.
The release was previously scheduled for 1 September but has been delayed for a few more days for reasons unknown.
CTO of TON Labs, Mitja Goroshevsky, said in an interview that there are currently100 nodes maintained by Telegram itself on the testnet, with many more maintained by his startup. Goroshevsky added:
“Source code for a full node that can access testnet, create and validate blocks has been released. Lite client was released several months ago. TON Labs will release Public Beta of its developer tools suite on Monday.”
The mainnet launch for TON will happen no later than 31 October. The platform will be completely compatible with Ethereum-based software, and designed as a proof-of-stake protocol encompassing the support of multiple “shardchains”. Validators will confirm the blocks and will be chosen from the users who own a considerable number of tokens.
