  • WeBank, through a collaboration with OpenNodes, is introducing a blockchain program in the Universities of Singapore to educate the students and drive innovation in the domain.

China’s first digital bank, WeBank, has collaborated with a hyper-connected blockchain ecosystem platform, OpenNodes, to extend learning opportunities for DLT-based innovations in Singaporean Universities. WeBank will provide the FISCO BCOS platform for the students to execute their innovative ideas.

This step is expected to play a major role in bridging the knowledge gap and accelerating blockchain-based innovations which are especially required for application in the finance and supply chain sectors. Some of the Universities which will take part in the program are Singapore University of Technology and Design, Nanyang Technological University, and Singapore Management University.

WeBank along with OpenNodes will also host hackathons and workshops to increase awareness and to promote the initiative.

WeBank’s executive vice president and chief information officer, Henry Ma stated:

“We seek to spur the next-generation talents into building viable solutions using blockchain to serve the general public. Providing this open-source technology as a developer arena will also help us strengthen the stack of our technologies in the process while allowing for better products and services for the general public.”
