Bitcoin mining firm MicroBT has announced the launch of their M30 series of Bitcoin mining rigs, with the most powerful rig being the M30S++, which has 112 TH/s of hashing power and an energy efficiency of 31 joules per TH. This announcement comes less than three weeks before the Bitcoin block halving which will occur around 12 May, which makes sense since miners will need stronger and more efficient Bitcoin mining rigs in order to stay competitive after the halving.

Essentially, the block halving will reduce the Bitcoin block reward by 50%, from 12.5 Bitcoins to 6.25 Bitcoins, and miners will need far more powerful and efficient mining rigs to stay competitive after this revenue reduction.

Notably, MicroBT is ramping up its competition with Bitmain, which is the leader in the crypto mining rig manufacturing sector. Bitmain still has a competitive edge over MicroBT, since their Antminer S19 Pro is just slightly more efficient at 29.5 joules per TH. Also, the Antminer S19 Pro costs USD 2,600, while the M30S++ costs USD 3,900, giving Bitmain a major edge over MicroBT when it comes to the price.
